Recognizing that homeless shelters alone is not the solution to homelessness, African American Planning Commission, Inc. (AAPCI) incorporated into its mission, the development of permanent, supportive and affordable housing. With more projects underway, AAPCI has developed 3 supportive housing buildings, currently representing more than $257 million in real estate investments.

AAPCI participates in the development of affordable and supportive housing in different capacities. AAPCI takes on the role of sole developer or develops strategic partnerships with for-profit developers, serving as non-profit sponsor and/or co-developer, depending on the needs and structure of the project.

AAPCI works with municipal agencies, city and state housing development and finance agencies, community stakeholders, private funders and investors, private developers and industry professionals to develop and bring hundreds of units of mixed-income housing developments to market.

We use a variety of innovative public and private financing tools, and have a track record of working with prominent and M/WBE architects, developers, contractors and/or subcontractors, respectively, throughout New York City.
