Director of Social Services: La Quinta Men’s Shelter
I currently serve as the Director of Social Services at the La Quinta Men’s Shelter with the African American Planning Commission. With over 20 years of experience in the social services field, I have dedicated my career to supporting individuals experiencing homelessness and helping them achieve stability and independence.
I began my career with Project Renewal as a Case Manager at the Fort Washington Men’s MICA Shelter. I later expanded my experience at F.E.G.S., where I held several roles, including Rehabilitation Technician across multiple programs such as the Twin Bridges Clubhouse, Personalized Recovery Oriented Services, and the Harlem Supported Apartment Program, as well as Assessment Case Manager for the WeCare program. These roles allowed me to develop a strong foundation in rehabilitation, assessment, and client-centered care.
I continued my professional growth as a Care Manager with Brightpoint Health, working within the Health Home Department. During this time, a meaningful full-circle moment led me back to the Fort Washington Men’s Shelter, where I stepped into my first supervisory role as Senior Case Manager, overseeing the Team Steps and Team Pride onsite programs.
In 2018, I joined Bowery Residents’ Committee as a Clinical Coordinator at the Reaching New Heights Men’s Shelter, continuing my commitment to serving the homeless population. From 2021 to 2022, I relocated to Arizona and worked as a Behavioral Health Specialist at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center. Although this was a valuable experience, my passion for serving New York City communities led me back home. Upon returning, I rejoined BRC as a Clinical Coordinator in the adult family shelter, a role I held for nearly four years before joining AAPCI.
I earned my Master of Science in Urban Affairs from Hunter College. My work is grounded in empowering clients by equipping them with the tools, insight, and confidence needed to reach their goals and live independently. I believe in encouraging individuals to think critically about their situations, explore different perspectives, and take ownership of their growth.
I am known for my practical, down-to-earth approach and balanced sense of humor, I strive to meet each situation with realism, compassion, and experience. Above all, I find deep fulfillment in supporting both clients and colleagues—helping individuals thrive in the community and strengthening the team that serve them.
