Sherlett Palmer began her career in the social services field more than 20 years ago. She recently served as the Regional Quality Assurance Manager at a nonprofit performing database (CARES & AWARDS) and in-person site audits throughout New York City, Mt. Vernon and Suffolk County. Over the years, Ms. Palmer has taken on various roles while working in the shelter system, assisting and supporting the transition of homeless families to permanent housing (DHS & HPD), overseeing staff to ensure contract compliance, provided leadership and daily supervision of an interdisciplinary team and assisted and oversaw the transfer of clients to more appropriate program shelter placements. She also served as a MICA specialist overseeing clinical documentation and the placement of clients into supportive housing and also provided case management service for the WeCare Program (HRA Welfare to Work). Motivated by a long-standing commitment to working with vulnerable individuals and families, she pursued and obtained a graduate degree which allowed her to transition into more leadership roles. Her purpose throughout the years has been to enhance human well-being and help meet basic and complex needs for all people and to create opportunities for assessment and intervention.
