Permanent Affordable & Special Needs Supportive Rental Housing

Edwin’s Place HDFC – A mix of permanent affordable rental and supportive housing paired with comprehensive services and programs for special needs formerly homeless adults and low income working families

Edwin’s Place seeks to provide 126 independent living apartments. Seventy-eight (78) independent living units will be set-aside for low-income working single adults and families from the community.  These units will be comprised of one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments. Eligible tenants of these 48 independent living apartments must have a verifiable source of income to support their rental payments.

Forty-eight (48) independent living units in the building will be set-aside for special needs homeless single adults and families in which the head-of-household is recovering from substance abuse, has been diagnosed with a Mental Health disorder and/or is living with HIV/AIDS. All tenants will be deemed ready for permanent supportive housing. The target population will also include homeless Vets. Special needs units will be comprise of one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments.

Participants of the supportive housing program must be NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) certified and have a source of income such as SSI, SSD, Veterans Benefits, etc. The program will provide case management, mental health counseling, alternate housing placement assistance when needed, and continued substance abuse support services, just to name a few.
