Senior Services at Glenmore Manor

The goal of Glenmore Manor Senior Residence is to meet the immediate and long term housing needs of very low-income seniors, 62 years of age and older. Glenmore Manor offers tenants the following enriched services that will allow them to remain independent as they age-in-place:
  • Counseling offices,
  • Senior Health & Wellness Center (exercise room),
  • Senior Employment Center – assistance with Employment and Vocational placement,
  • Senior Technology Services (basic computer skills classes),
  • Public Space for performances,
  • Recreation (Pool Room) & Cultural activities room,
  • Tenant’s Lounge / TV room
  • Communal Dining room / Commercial Kitchen,
  • Community Food pantry (open to tenants and/or community residents)
  • Infirmary / Medical office,
  • Arthritis hydrotherapy swimming pool,
  • Library / Reading lounge,
  • On-site laundry facilities,
  • On-site Beauty Salon and Barber Shop,
  • 24-hour Security

Tenant issues and concerns are brought to the attention of management by a Tenant Association, a group made up of tenants of Glenmore Manor. Tenant meetings are conducted in an atmosphere that allows each tenant’s concern to be addressed by management and to bring about swift resolutions.

Support service staff will help with apartment repairs and maintenance which is critical in one’s ability to remain in the community and out of an institutional facility. As one ages in place, the home serves an increasingly important function: as a location for the delivery of services and a stabilizing and familiar part of the older person’s life.

Social support services are provided by an interdisciplinary team of English and trilingual social workers and case managers. All support services will be provided free of charge by an interdisciplinary team of English and bilingual staff and through linkage agreements with other senior service providers, including:

  • Senior Citizen Case management services,
  • Individual and Group counseling,
  • Volunteer & Intergenerational activities,
  • Cultural and Recreational program services,
  • Peer Support groups,
  • Professional Development: resume writing, budgeting, etc.
  • Vocational, Volunteer and Senior Employment services,
  • Assistance with Independent Living Skills,
  • Educational classes on issues such as breast cancer, nutrition, HIV/AIDS, and overall health,
  • Health and Mental Health care referrals and Follow-up services,
  • Linkages with meal service providers for homebound elderly,
  • English Language / Civics (Citizenship) Instruction for Elderly Refugees,
  • On-site Self-Help programs,
  • Linkages with Senior Transportation Services,
  • Empowerment and Enrichment classes,
  • Anger Management counseling,
  • Legal Service advocacy,
  • Intergenerational activities,
  • Friendly visiting services for Homebound Elderly,
  • Linkages with Telephone Reassurance services for Homebound Elderly,
  • Formal and Informal relationships with community-based senior service providers,
  • Service agreements with Homebound Senior service providers,
  • Linkages and referrals to a wide array of community-based senior service providers including: NYC Department for the Aging, NYC Health and Hospitals Corporation,
  • Entitlement and Financial advocacy,
  • Information and Referral services,
  • Substance Abuse counseling services, and much more…

Safe Horizon You can call Safe Horizon’s hotlines 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The calls are free, and counselors are able to help you no matter what language you speak. Counselors provide crisis counseling, safety planning, assistance with finding shelter, referrals to Safe Horizon programs or other organizations, advocacy with the police, and other crucial services.
