AIDS FACTS
in Nigeria
- Nigeria has approximately 3 million people between the ages
of 15 and 49 years reported HIV infected.
- As
estimated half million Nigerians became infected in 1998 alone.
- In
1998, 140,000 women were reported living with HIV/AIDS.
- Approximately
72 percent of all HIV infections are among adults under the
age of 40 years old.
- More
than 1.4 million children have been orphaned by AIDS.
