It is my belief, due to my experiences with abuse, the study that I've done and the anecdotal events of others, that we have been as a culture led astray in how we analyze and respond to domestic violence, abuse and rape.Frankly, we have been lied to and have payed and continue to pay a high price for our ignorance. There is no leadership coming women's groups on this issue, even though the National Organization of Women admits on their website that even gay women, who many thought were morally immune to being abusive, are indeed abusive themselves, all of which NOW is being very quiet about. This is shameful. My mother, who could be extremely violent and psychologically abusive because of the free pass given to her by society, was famous for ranting about violence against females but never once held herself to the same standards she held men to.This is common in the black community and others as well. This nonsensical hypocrisy is deeply ingrained in our culture as evidenced by the Presidents new commercial in which he says, "Its never ok to hit a woman."Fair enough, but what about the rest of us? It is time the truth came out.

This subject is seldom discussed, unless it is to vilify these young-men.This fits a larger pattern of disregard for their well-being, I,as a coach/mentor at Oakland High in California confront and see everyday.

My sister has been Hiv Positive since birth. She is celebrating her 10th birthday today. It hasn't been easy for us, specially since our daddy died 7 years ago. Sometimes I wish I could take away all her pain and trouble but God is great. He makes her stronger each day. I know there is hope, there is a bright future. Be strong, God can do miracles, everything is possible through Him.

Affordable housing advocates have long expressed concerns that any change to the state's programs would significantly reduce communities' obligation to build cheap apartments for low-income tenants especially for college students.

Spirited Tastings Inc. of the Bronx used to be a fine establishment. But since its owner, Roger Parson, has to be a landlord and rent out his third floor, he has gone downhill. Bedbugs and toilets that need replacing go nowhere. He defrauded his mortgage company by asking us, his tenants of five years to sign a two-year lease even though he knew we had to leave because he wouldn’t keep the rent low (which he had done for us when I got laid off in 2009). He also didn’t tell us to measure our normal size sofa and bed before moving in, so that we could arrange to have them taken apart and reassembled in the apartment. We lost both of them. Now, he will not give us $1680 in security, because he accuses our 10-year-old of “jumping” on tiles next to the leaking toilet that should have been replaced. I hope he doesn’t run Spirited Tastings Inc. of the Bronx the same way.
