As Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the African American Planning Commission, I am pleased to welcome you to the new African American Planning Commission website. We have enhanced our look, made our web site very interactive and easy for visitors to navigate with no effort. Through our web site, you will become familiar with who we are, what we do, and where we are headed. Please notice at the bottom of this page, an image link titled Reserved for Key Sponsors. Click here to find out what this is about and how your company can become a key sponsor or advertiser.
I invite you to explore the history of the African American Planning Commission and learn about how the Commission is tackling some of the most pressing issues affecting our communities. Explore our vision of being a multi-service housing, social service, community and economic development organization, and the strategies we are employing in order to attain those goals.
Our new Employment Center represents the broad array of partnerships we have developed with public and private sector employers in an effort to bring employment opportunities to our constituents, the broader community, and to members of the general public. Each month, thousands of people, from recent high school graduates to senior-level executives, and experienced middle managers visit our Employment Center for new career challenges, tips and trends in the job market and recently posted job vacancy announcements from employers all over the country and around the world.
The African American Planning Commission has developed an interactive nonprofit, world-wide community forum/chat room/blog page where you can meet like-minded individuals who share your views and opinion of the world, support the work of nonprofit organizations and/or those who work within the sector. Additionally, our forum, chat room and blog pages allow anyone who works for a nonprofit or has an interest in their work to cross-link and exchange ideas with like-minded individuals and organizations while developing best practices. This is a win-win situation for everyone. The forum, chat room and blog pages are also the place where we encourage everyone to network, post questions, comment on posts, voice their opinions, and discuss the issues that have an impact upon the world in which we live.
The African American Planning Commission has developed many informal relationships with nonprofits and NGOs from all over the world. This is evidenced by the over 30,000 nonprofit organizations and NGOs who have taken the opportunity to list their organizations in our search engine directory. I am glad to say that this list continues to grow daily and link submission to our search engine will always be 100% free! By submitting your NGO or nonprofit organization, church or group for inclusion in our search engine, you are guaranteeing your organization’s placement in one of the most frequently visited nonprofit websites on the Internet! This means that your organization has a greater possibility of being found by prospective funders, grantors and volunteers. It usually takes no more than twenty-four to forty-eight hours to get your link up and running, and we will notify you when your site has been listed. I encourage you to visit our Search Engine directory, list your organization (if not already listed), and start networking with others.
Whether you are a first time visitor to our web site, a long time supporter or someone seeking to donate to a worthy organization -- WELCOME! If you are new to our web site, please take your time to browse around and become acquainted with our site. If you are a frequent visitor, please continue to visit our site and support our efforts. The African world view is expressed in the adage: "It takes a village to raise a child". Our efforts to embody this principle are what propel us toward our mission. We have only just begun. Ours is an ever evolving story, filled with small successes, sometimes jubilation, and a few painful experiences, however we continue to face each and every challenge that confronts us, with renewed vigor and enthusiasm; and with the encouragement of our loyal supporters, dedicated group of volunteers, and program funders, we continue striving to serve our clients to the best of our abilities -- with dignity and compassion. We are a work in progress, still in the embryonic stages of our evolution. Our best is yet to come. We ask that you bookmark this website. It is our hope that you will check back often to see how we have evolved and impacted the lives of those served.
We hope that you find this site inspiring and that your tour is enjoyable and most of all, educational and informative. We challenge you, not only to join us in our quest to bring stability, harmony, and economic independence into the lives of those who need it most, but hope that you will support our efforts with your tax-deductible financial donations which are used to help the most needy.
On behalf of the Board of Directors and the staff of the African American Planning Commission, I thank you for visiting our website, for your interest in our work, and for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Bernadette Parker
